In combination with [[oxygen]], hydrogen at these natural abundances forms regular [[water]] (called [[light water]]). However when the deuterium content in water is increased, the resulting substance is known as [[heavy water]], which acts as an effective [[neutron moderator]] in [[nuclear reactor]]s.
