			Digital meters simply state the number of kWh of electricity have been used. It's important to note that neither the digital nor the analog meters reset at the beginning of the month, the power company subtracts off the start from the end to figure out how much to bill the household. Digital meters are often able to communicate directly with the power company, reducing the need for people to walk around neighbourhoods looking at everyone's meters.

An electric meter seems complicated with all of those spinning dials each rotating in opposite directions, however it isn't too difficult once the secret is revealed. The following video provides an excellent guideline on how to read an electric meter, which is summarized below.
