Energy use by sector is useful to look at, since different sectors use different methods of achieving their goals, and therefore have varying demands for different primary fuels and primary energy flows. These sectors are listed as, and correspond to the visualization below as follows:
Largest consumers
Other
- Residential energy use
- Commercial energy use, also institutional energy use
- Agricultural energy use, in some countries this is combined with residential energy use since the distinction is hard to make, this usually happens in less developed countries.
The visualization below shows the use of different energy sources by each sector. The sector itself can be clicked on to see exactly where this energy is being used. The "Other" category includes residential, commercial and agricultural sectors. The country or region may also be changed by use of the search bar at the top.
