The bar is a unit of pressure, equal to 100,000 Pa. The bar is not an SI unit, but is accepted for use with SI by BIPM - The International Bureau of Weights and Measures.[1] The bar is convenient as it is quite close to the value of the standard atmosphere (1.01325 bar). Additionally, bar as a unit of measurement is useful as it is often used when describing pressures under water or underground.
