STP
Standard conditions for temperature and pressure (STP) are set standard conditions for the measurement and documentation of chemical and physical processes.[1] Since temperature and pressure vary in all locations on the globe, it is necessary to have a base foundation for comparing different sets of data to. The conditions set by STP is a temperature of 273.15 K (0°C or 32°F) and a pressure of 105 Pascals (formerly 1 atm, but IUPAC has since changed this standard).[2]
Since a gas' volume depends on the temperature and pressure, at STP conditions one mole of an ideal gas has a volume of 22.4 liters.
