Crest
The term crest is ambiguous, and has applications in hydroelectric dams as well as small-scale weirs. From this ambiguity, the term crest may refer to:
- The crest ("top") of a wave. A wavelength can be measured from "crest-to-crest."
- Crest - Weir: The portion of a weir over which the water flows, the topmost surface of the weir.
- Crest - Hydroelectric Dams: The portion of some hydroelectric dams connected to the spillway. This crest acts as a small lip between the water reservoir and the body of the spillway that exists to ensure water flows out of the reservoir when it is overfilled.
